...Conservatives in the Presbyterian Church USA have nailed a protest on the door of the denomination's headquarters, demanding that "gay-friendly" congregations be disciplined. The document -- signed by 100 members of the mainline denomination -- declares that "The Presbyterian Church USA is decaying and dying in the belly of the beast and is irretrievably apostate under current management." The denomination's constitution bans ordination of non-celibate homosexuals and forbids same-sex marriage, but some of the more liberal congregations ignore or defy those rules. A group of liberal Presbyterians pressed their case Sunday in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where they posted demands on a church door, urging the denomination to ordain and marry homosexuals. Why all this sudden "door-posting"? It was on October 31, 1517, that Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the door of Wittenberg Cathedral to mark the beginning of the Protestant Reformation.
