...The president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission says Christians must stand against society's efforts to tear down traditional families. In his new book, For Faith and Family, Dr. Richard Land says the institution of the family has served for all of history as the bedrock of society. He says people today are trying to redefine the family to be descriptive of "what is" -- but Land says that is not God's way. According to Land, God defines the way the family is and the way it is supposed to be. He contends Christians should talk about what God intended -- and not "what is." Land says Christians can exert more influence over the culture by doing things such as becoming involved in community affairs and voting values instead of political parties.
