Computers and the Internet are not evil. They can
be used as a tool for good or for evil. A hammer used to build a house is
being used for good purpose. The same hammer used to break a car window is
being used for evil purpose. It is not the hammer’s fault, it is the
person who is using it.
It is important to be wise and discerning about
the Internet. While there are a lot of good and helpful tools on the
Internet, there are also a lot of inappropriate and unsuitable sites for
Christians. There are many ways to protect you and your family from these
dangerous traps.
There are Online Internet monitoring programs.
While many of these programs are very good, you must remember that there
are some unseemly sites that try very hard to bypass these programs. Some
of the very best programs that are use in the business world today are
expensive and must be fine-tuned on a daily basis.

|
Your best defense it to be an alert
parent or spouse.
|
| You must limit and supervise the amount of
time any family member spends on the Internet. As with any vice, it
can quickly become an obsession and an idol. |
Ecclesiastes 10:18
By much
slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands
the house droppeth through.
|
| Be very, very careful with any chat room. You
never know whom you might be talking to. Chat rooms are forum’s for
many pedophiles and other perverts who are seeking innocent victims. |
1 Timothy 5:13
And withal they learn
to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but
tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
|
| Never give your name, phone number, address,
email address or any other personal information to people you do not
know personally. Also, be careful when signing Guest Books on
different sites. |
Proverbs 2:11
Discretion shall
preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
|
| Satan uses the Internet to tempt your
weaknesses. The best way to keep from developing a problem with
pornography, gambling or other unseemly activities is STAY AWAY FROM
IT, DON’T GO THERE AND GET OFF THE SITE IF IT IS OFFENSIVE. |
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour:
|
| Some general sites have advertisement links
and banners to highly inappropriate sites. They even show pictures and
video clips that are pornographic. DO NOT click on these links or
patronize any site that is subsidized by these unsuitable sites. |
James 4:7
Submit yourselves
therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
|
| Monitor, at least on a weekly basis, what
sites are being accessed on your computer. Be wise enough to know that
anyone can be tempted. Let your children know that you are monitoring
their Internet usage and DO IT. |
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are
lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.
