May
Edition focuses on Young Adults, Graduation and Singles |
|
|
Now is the time when many young people launch out into the world taking their
first steps as adults. This by no means brings an end to our responsibilities as parents or
as the church. This is perhaps the most dangerous time in a young adult’s life. We would
encourage you to pray for those graduating and for these who are away at college or in the
military. The church is never more than one generation away from extinction. We would call
your attention to the scriptures below and take notice of what happened when the adults gave
up on their youth. Stay in contact with them, pray for them and if you need to help them to
find a church to become a part of. Don’t be afraid to contact churches and tell
them about your child or friend!
The Commandment to Teach our
Youth:
Deuteronomy 6:6 - And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in your heart:
7- And you shall teach them diligently unto thy children, and shall talk of them when you sit
in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
The Results if we do not:
Read: Judges 2:10-2:11, Judges 3:7, Judges 3:12,
Judges 4:1, Judges 6:1, Judges 10: 6, Judges 13:1

Pro-Family Leader Warns of 'Crackpot Ideas' Oozing from Universities
http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/4/122001e.asp
(AgapePress) - A leading family-values expert says crackpot ideas
from politically correct universities are making their way into mainstream thinking. Princeton
University is home to Dr. Peter Singer, who made headlines last year with his controversial views,
including the belief that parents should have the right to kill their own children weeks after
birth. Bob Knight, who heads the Culture and Family Institute of Concerned Women for America, says
Singer is also an outspoken proponent of bestiality -- the practice of sex between humans and
animals. Knight says bestiality was smiled on by the pedophile sex researcher Alfred Kinsey, but
it is now being promoted at a major American university. "So you had Alfred Kinsey in the
[19]40s and now we're up here in 2001 with Peter Singer at Princeton University giving academic
support to something that has been condemned by the Bible severely," Knight says. "In
fact, it's right near child sacrifice in the list in Leviticus ... and has been condemned by every
society since man came upon the scene."

Youth Ministries
http://www.christianarsenal.com/Youth.htm
The youth of our world are our future. How can we expect to win a
lost world to Christ without them? There was a day when everyone, even the lost, went to
church. Everyone had some knowledge of the Bible and salvation in Jesus Christ. But today we
have raised a nation of youth that have never been to church and never heard the gospel.
Our society overwhelmingly believes that "you shouldn't push religion on children"
or "each one should decide for himself". Well, that is completely contradictory to
what the Bible says. The world is teaching our youth the "Survivor" or "Weakest
Link" mentality. Only the smartest or best should be a part of our world. We need to
make sure that true Biblical wisdom is imparted to them from the scriptures. Can we afford to
lose this generation? Our faith is only as strong as the next generation that will rise up to
perpetuate it. Let us teach our Youth wisdom, purity, faith, kindness and the love of God.

Singles and Young Adult Ministries
http://www.christianarsenal.com/Singles.htm
What is God's calling in my life? Being in God's will is the most
important place a Single person can be. Society and tradition has long taught that your must be
married to be complete. But, that is not what God's says. Your relationship with God is what
makes you complete. God calls each of us to serve Him where we are now. Whether single, married,
divorced or widowed, we want to be where God would have us now. The Bible commands us to seek
Him first. If we truly seek God and His will first, then our state and position in life becomes
less important.

Christian Reading for the Month of May 2001 |

How To Stay Christian In College - J. Budziszewski
This book discusses the foundations of the Christian faith, and
directly addresses different world views and myths that students encounter at college. Filled
with quotes, statistics, resources, stories and encouragement, it will equip you to conquer
the dangers that lie ahead. How to Stay Christian in College is designed to help young people
be beacons of light in the often dimly lit corridor of non-Christian higher learning. When you
go to college, you're leaving behind your network of support and heading to a world with
different perspectives, responsibilities, and expectations. Even if you're going to a "
Christian" college, there's no guarantee you won't face challenges to your faith.

Spiritual Junkfood: The Dumbing Down of Christian Youth - Cathy Mickels
This book raises some very serious questions regarding what
"Christian" publishers are marketing to the church. "Christian" publishers
appear to be laying a foundation not based on the word of God, but the philosophies and ideas
of humanist educator, John Dewey. After reading this book, it sounds like the liberal teachers
union has taken over the writing of material for Christian youth. The result is that a whole
generation of young people is being spiritually dumbed down and neutralized in their ability
to stand up for TRUTH. The authors also include practical steps on how to detect such
teachings as well as what to do to return to the truth of Scripture. This book should server
as a wake-up call to parents to make sure they know what their children are being taught
in Church.
