CHRISTIAN ARSENAL Newsletter

January 2002

January's Edition focuses on Islam

We at the Christian Arsenal realize that all Muslims are not the same sect or mind set as Osama Bin Laden. There are some truly nice people in the world that are Muslims. There are many nice people who are Buddhists, Hindu, Agnostic, and many other religions. Without Jesus however, being a nice person won't do anyone any good. John 3:15-18, Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 make this quite clear. Salvation is a free gift from God to men of all nations and races. It can not be earned or bought. It was paid for by Jesus on Calvary.
In 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John, the apostle John continually warned about those who deny Jesus Christ. He went so far as to say in 2 John 1: 9-11 “Whoever transgresses, and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. The one who abides in the doctrine of Christ, this one has both the Father and the Son. If there is another that comes to you, and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house, or wish him God speed: For the one that bids him God speed is a partaker of his evil deeds.” Jude, the earthly brother of Jesus warned us in Jude 1:3-4 "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ever since the Tragedy of 9/11, the media has been presenting Islam as a peaceful religion. The facts speak other wise. I would encourage you to read what the Koran, Islam’s sacred book, has to say. The religion of Islam and it’s spin off “Nation of Islam” has not brought peace to any country, on the contrary it has brought war, hatred, and strife. The Christian response to Islam must be one that matches the mandates of the Bible. We are to share the Gospel and to show love. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19-20 that we are to go into the whole world. John 3:16 and Romans 6:23 is our message. 1Corinthians 13:2-3, tells us in what frame of mind and spirit we should do this. Our mandate for our actions on a day to day basis so the world can see we are different is found in Colossians 3:13, Hebrews 10:25, Galatians 5:22-23. Pray for the people who are in bondage to this religion of hate and oppression.

Current Christian Issues and Concerns

9-11 Attacks - Vehicle for One World Religion?
(AgapePress) - A report says the September 11 terrorist attacks could prove to be a major catalyst towards the creation of a one world religion. The conservative publication World reported this month that one of the greatest ironies in the wake of the attacks is that at the very time when Christians are targets of an Islamic jihad, "all of a sudden Muslims are getting so much good press."

Christian Reading for the Month of January 2002

Jesus Among Other Gods - Ravi Zacharias
Jesus Among Other Gods provides the answers to the most fundamental claims about Christianity, such as: * Aren't all religions fundamentally the same? * Was Jesus who He claimed to be? * Is the Christian claim to His uniqueness valid? * Can one study the life of Christ and demonstrate conclusively that He was and is the way, the truth, and the life? In each chapter, Zacharias considers a unique claim that Jesus made and then contrasts the truth of Jesus with the founders of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism with compelling insight and passionate conviction. In addition to an impressive breadth of reading and study, he shares his personal journey from despair and meaninglessness to his discovery that Jesus is who He said He is.
Answering Islam - Norman Geisler and Abdul Saleeb
Islam is growing at a rapid pace worldwide. Geisler and Saleeb guide you through the claims and arguments of orthodox Islam and then defend such Christian essentials as the Trinity, the authenticity of the Bible, the deity of Christ, and salvation through Christ's death on the cross for our sins.
Sharing Your Faith With A Muslim - Abdiyah Akbar Abdul-Haqq
This book is a must for any Christian who is serious about communicating the life-giving truth of Scripture to adherents of Islam. Abdul-Haqq, who is an Arab Christian, contends that any successful Christian-Muslim dialog must center around the person of Christ, as He is presented in both the Bible and the Koran.
