February's Edition focuses on
Christian Responsibility |
|
|
Would you give money to an organization that blatantly opposes Traditional
Christian and Family values? What about one that squanders money so
that it's leadership can live an opulent lifestyle? Many Christian
are doing just that and no we are not talking about paying taxes. Many
churches, denominations, ministries and televangelists take and distribute monies to
agencies and causes that many members and supporters are not aware
of. It surprises people when they find out what their denomination is
supporting. It is even more surprising when they feel that there is
nothing they can do about it. We are called on to be responsible stewards
of that which God has given us. It is your right and responsibility to hold
those whom you support accountable for what they do with your money. We
believe that the local church should be the first agency that is
supported before any other type of ministry is. Finding out what your church
does with it's funding and what recipients of this funding do should be
a priority. Christians are giving to denominations that give to support movements
that are diametrically opposed the very core of Biblical truth and
morality. We challenge you to know where your money is going to and what it is doing.
Discernment is not just to be used in matters of theology, discernment is
a 7 day a week function applicable all areas of life and that
includes stewardship of your money.

Current Christian Issues and Concerns |

Enough with Trash Television
http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/1/302002ev.asp
(AgapePress) - What one mom or dad might not be able to accomplish,
one pro-family group believes a million moms and dads can. American
Family Association, a Mississippi-based pro-family organization, has
launched two new services to give America's families more muscle in
reining in the television networks' barrage of filth and violence.
OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com began in late December
registering concerned mothers and fathers who are willing once a week
to e-mail their concerns to network, advertising, and TV station executives.

Denominational Report Card
http://www.christianarsenal.com/Demrpt.htm
People often complain that the average everyday citizen does not know
what much the US Congress and the Senate are doing when it comes to
what Washington is spending our money on. As much as we do not like
it, we just can not control a great portion of what our government
wastes our money on sometimes. Would it surprise you to find out that
the are literally millions of Church members that give to Churches,
Denominations and various ministries and they do not know how they stand on issues.
What are Your Responsibilities as a Christian?
http://www.christianarsenal.com/ChristianLife.htm
It’s hard to listen to the news today without hearing about “rights”. We
have “civil rights”, “equal rights”, “women’s rights”, “human rights”, and
even “animal rights”. Everyone is demanding to have his or her rights.
Conversely, few of these people stop to think of the other side of that coin
and that is what are his or her “responsibilities.” Rights
and responsibility go hand in hand. There can be no separation of the two.
To separate them would be to create an unhealthy and dysfunctional person or group.
How to Spot a Cult
http://www.christianarsenal.com/CultCharacter.htm
For the past 30 years I have looked at cults and different religions with
a view of trying to understand then to be better able to witness and to
communicate the Christian Faith. I found, over the years, it is quite
impossible to know everything about all religions or even a minority
of them. While it is good to be aware of different religions and cults, it
is much more valuable to be in touch with the truth of the Bible. This is
advice from not only my own experience but from many who work with
and have written books on the subject of cults.

Christian Reading for the Month of February 2002 |
|
|
Why Am I a Christian - Norman Geisler
Divided into six parts, this book presents 16 separately authored
chapters on such topics as "Why I Believe in Miracles" and
"Why I Have Chosen To Follow Christ." These are not just
personal testimonies; each of these well-written chapters engages
antireligious assumptions found in today's culture and education.
|
|
When Cultists Ask - Norman Geisler and Ron Rhodes
Two noted experts in the study of cults and apologetics identify and
respond to the misuse of Scripture by adherents of various religions
seeking validation for their own particular doctrines.
|
|
The Case for Faith - Lee Strobel
This book is a superb and necessary follow-up to Strobel's "The
Case for Christ." This volume deals with the "Big Eight"
objections to Christianity. Strobel follows the pattern used in "The
Case for Christ" by interviewing world-renown experts in these areas.
