Foundational Documents:

The Bible, written originally in Hebrew and Aramaic (Old Testament), and Greek (New Testament). Christians believe that man was totally unable to find God so God in his mercy revealed his will to us in the Bible and later and ultimately through Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 36:2       Acts 1:16      2 Timothy 3:16     Hebrews 1:1      2 Peter 1:20-21

God is...

There is one God who exists as one God in three Persons, not three gods or to put it another way God is one what and three who's, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Often the title "God" designates the first Person, God the Father. God is a spiritual being without a physical body. He is personal and involved with people. He created the universe out of nothing. He is eternal, changeless, holy, loving, and perfect. It is to be noted here that There is nothing and no one in the universe to which a comparison can be made to help in defining God. The totality of understanding the nature of God is beyond human comprehension. That which we know about God is mainly derived from what He has revealed about Himself in the Bible and secondarily from the universe He created.

Genesis 1-3 & 17:1   Psalm 90:1   Isaiah 44:6   Matthew 10:29 & 19:26   Hebrews 4:13  Acts 17:26    Psalm 102:26-27    Job 38-42     Malachi 3:6    James 1:17    John 3:16

Jesus is...

Jesus is God, the second Person of the Trinity. As God the Son, He has always existed and was never created. He is fully God and fully man (the two natures joined, not mixed). As the second Person of the Trinity, He is coequal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. In becoming man, He was begotten through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus is the only way to the Father, salvation, and eternal life. He died on a cross according to God's plan, as full sacrifice and payment for our sins. He rose from the dead on the third day, spiritually and physically immortal. For the next 40 days He was seen by more than 500 eyewitnesses. His wounds were touched and He ate meals. He physically ascended to Heaven. Jesus will come again visibly and physically at the end of the world to establish God's kingdom and judge the world.

John 1:1-5, 32-34   3:21-22  24:1-53    Philippians 1:5-11   Colossians 1:12-22   Revelation 1:17-19   Revelation 22:12-16   Isaiah 7:14   Matthew 1:23  1 John 1:1-5

The Holy Spirit is...

The Holy Spirit is God, the third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is a person, not a force or energy field. He comforts, grieves, reproves, convicts, guides, teaches , and fills Christians. He is not the Father, nor the Son, Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:2  6:3     Ezekiel 36:27     John 14:17     Romans 8:9-11    1 Corinthians 6:19   Isaiah 32:15 59:21     Matthew 3:11     Luke 24:49    Acts 2:1-8      1 Corinthians 12&13    1John 3:24     Matthew 12:31    Luke 12:12     John 14:18-26  16:7-16     Acts 13:2

Method of Salvation:

Salvation is by God's grace alone and not by an individual's good works. Salvation must be received by faith and repentance. People must believe in their heart that Jesus died for their sins and physically rose again, which is the assurance of forgiveness and resurrection of the body. This is the plan God revealed through the scriptures and through Jesus to saved lost humanity.

Mark 1:15       Acts 3:19       Isaiah 1:18       Acts 4:12       Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8-10    Galatians 3:8-29          John 3:3-7         Psalm 34:18, 51:17          Isaiah 57:15

Death and Beyond...

At death the saved go to be with Jesus. After death, all people await the final Judgment. Both saved and lost people will be resurrected. Those who are saved will live with Jesus in Heaven. Those who are lost will suffer the torment of eternal separation from God (Hell). Jesus' bodily resurrection guarantees believers that they, too, will be resurrected and receive new immortal bodies.

Luke 6:23      1 Corinthians 2:9, 15:35-58      Matthew 5:12       Revelation 21:1-22:5     Psalm 9:17, 55:15     Luke 16:19-31    Mark 9:41-49    2 Peter 2:4    Revelation 20:10-15

Other Beliefs:

For the most part Christians worship in churches .The Ordinances observed by Christian churches are Baptism and Lord's Supper (Communion). Christianity has no secret rights or rituals. Christianity is further defined by missionary involvement at home and abroad and by providing aid to those in need: the poor, widows, orphans, and downtrodden. Christians believe that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah promised to Israel in the Old Testament. Jesus said His followers would be known by their love for one another.

Matthew 3:6      Mark 16:16     Acts 2:41     Acts 8:12    Luke 22:11-22    John 13:1-25      1 Corinthians 11:18-34       Matthew 28:19-20      James 1:27      2 Timothy 2:15
