Ecumenical & Interfaith Unity
In the same vein as the National Council and the World Council of Churches, just when you though it was safe here comes the Churches Uniting in Christ. This organization was birthed from the Consultation of Church Union (COCU), which was formed in 1962. The COCU has been attempting to integrate these denominations since 1962. The denominations are the Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, International Council of Community Churches, The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), African Methodist Episcopal Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, United Methodist Church, and the Episcopal Church. The program has already been approved by most of these groups.
✦Member Churches of the Global Church - The term "Uniting" in the title expresses the desire of these ecumenists eventually to see all denominations and churches incorporated into their scheme. Check to see if your denomination is participating in this effort.
✦Christian Exclusivism Explained and Defended - The Christian Church has always taught that Jesus is the only way to God. This doctrine is called Christian Exclusivism. Many people stumble over this doctrine, others think it is arrogant, and still others think it is unreasonable. Therefore, it will be profitable to examine more closely exactly what this doctrine is and what evidence there is to believe it.
✦All Paths, One Destination? - When critics of Christianity claim it is intolerant and ethnocentric to state that Jesus is the only way to Heaven.. they completely overlook the fact that similar claims are made by other religions.
✦Should Christians Join Interfaith Communion? - There is great social pressure today to conform to whatever cultural liberals decide is "politically correct" (PC). PC issues are often tied to discrimination — seemingly all forms of discrimination are considered wrong, from racial bias (which is wrong) to moral judgments against homosexuality.
